On 18th of September 2011 in the evening hour, Sikkim was hit by a massive earthquake and the casualty reached more than 110. The surrounding areas of Darjeeling district were also badly affected. Villagers of Samagoan, which falls under Kalimpong 2 approached MARG for support.
